The 2004 North Star Classic Was Bursting At the Seams
The 2004 North Star Classic, held this past December 3 –
5, at the Winter Show Event Center, was literally ‘bursting
at the seams’ with 597 show entries and 252 sale entries,
up over 200 from last year!
WS Board of Directors President Ken Rasmusson said the growing
pains the NSC is experiencing are a wonderful thing! “We
are looking at ways to accommodate the growth in entries, as we
fully expect the show to continue growing,” notes Rasmusson.
There is something for everyone at the NSC, with open and junior
shows, commercial exhibits, a market hog show, youth fitting contest
and youth judging work-out. Rasmusson noted the sales have grown
each year as well and play an important part in the growth of
the NSC. The following breeds held sales at the 2005 NSC: Angus,
Hereford, Charolais, Club
Calf, as well as an Other Breeds Sale. It was the first year Select
Sires held a Bred Commercial Heifer Sale.
The NSC Championship Bull Riding will be back for its second
year, and the dinner show held at the Valley City Eagles will
feature Baxter Black, cowboy poet.
The dates for the 2005 NSC are December 2 – 4. Watch this
site for an updated schedule and entry information this fall.
