The Women's Division of the North Dakota Winter Show, as it is today, formally organized in 1962. But from the first show in 1937 women have played a unique role in sponsoring activities that promote the original educational intent of the show. These activities, these competitions, these entertainments, are marked in their own special interpretations of that intent.
Todays Women's Division programs carry on the theme, but have been expanded to encompass an astounding array of topics. Most programs cater not only women, but to anyone with an interest in the world around them. Those activities that have become tradition for the Women's Division, such as the Hoe Down, the Luncheon and the Tasting Bee, appeal to people of all ages.
The Women's Division is composed of volunteers, as was its predecessor, the Home Economic Committee.' They both have relied on women from the area to volunteer and help carry out their programs.
